The picture below is a screenshot of Rt. In particular, it is a picture of its graphical user interface (GUI). The input to Rt can be prepared in a text file or entered in the GUI. Regardless, working with Rt implies that you sequentially devote attention to the following five areas of Rt's GUI:
- Objects Pane (left-most area in the GUI): Rt is an object-oriented software and this is where the objects are displayed. New objects are created by right-clicking in this pane. Clicking at the bottom toggles between Modelling objects and Analysis objects; both models and analysis objects are required before running any analysis.
- Properties Pane (bottom-left area in the GUI): This is where the properties of each object can be set and modified. First click on the desired object in the Objects Pane, then modify its properties here.
- Analysis Menu (in the menu bar at the top): After creating Modelling and Analysis input in the Objects Pane, or in an input file that is loaded by File>Open, the analysis is run by selecting the desired analysis type in the Analysis drop-down menu.
- Output Pane (bottom-right area in the GUI): The analysis output is printed to this pane.
- Visualization Pane (large upper-right area in the GUI): This pane usually covers the majority of the GUI. In the screenshot below it contains four sub-panes that display information about an analysis. A variety of information can be displayed in the Visualization Pane. Some information, like the plot of a PDF of a random variable, is analysis-independent, while other information, like the coefficient of variation of a sampling result is continuously updated on the screen during the analysis.
